Abstract:
The scope of the study is to determine the impact of implementation of adventure based learning strategy in the scouting setting on the growth of level of learning motivation among unified year pupils in the College of physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad. The scholars adopted a two-group (experimental and control) pre-test, post-test, and follow-up study design. The sample was composed of (20) students who were selected randomly and divided into two equal groups (10) male and (10) female. The duration of the program was (8) weeks, two sessions in a week. The scouting program that had been prepared by the researchers and guided by the adventure-based learning activities was applied to the experimental group, whereas the control group was dedicated to the program prescribed by the college. The Pintrich and De Groot (1990) scale was used to determine the level of learning motivation by first translating and adapting it to the study setting. The outcomes revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the post test measure in favor of the experimental group which persisted in the follow-up test, a fact that showed that the program was effective in steadily increasing the level of motivation in learning. The researchers found that adventure-based scouting activities are a good solution to use during the university educational process as it gives a pleasant and interactive learning process that builds self-confidence of students and makes them strive in taking challenges and responsibility an aspect that builds their motivation to learn.
