Innovative circuit training to improve agility and reaction skills of table tennis athletes aged 10-12 years

Abstract:
Agility and reaction are important aspects in the development of basic skills of table tennis athletes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to create a form of fun training for children aged 10-12 years to improve table tennis physical abilities.
This research method uses a mixed method. Data collection uses the Delphi technique and retest. The subjects of the study were three academic experts, four professional table tennis experts, and nine table tennis athletes. The research instrument used a questionnaire with a rating scale of one to four, namely very relevant, relevant, less relevant, irrelevant, and a scale of one to three for the practicality instrument. Data analysis used the Aiken formula.
The results of the study on innovation of training types with the circuit method to improve the ability of forehand and backhand strokes in beginner table tennis show the first aspect: The first aspect is the suitability of the concept with the training objectives V = 0.952. The second aspect of the training movement is relevant to the training objectives V = 0.952. The third aspect of relevant modification V = 0.952. The fourth aspect of the suitability of the training procedure V = 0.857. The fifth aspect of the suitability of the training facilities V = 0.857. The practicality test of all aspects obtained a score of >80%.
Based on these results, the type of training with the circuit method for children aged 10-12 years in improving agility and reaction abilities has content validity and practicality showing good results, therefore the results of this study in the form of a type of training with the circuit method can be used to improve physical table tennis abilities.
