Correlates of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction among physical education school teachers

Abstract:The ongoing exploration has assessed the factors relating to Job satisfaction and emotional intelligence among secondary school Physical Education teachers. The research question that supported the study was whether Job satisfaction and emotional intelligence were linked and further, if demographic factors like gender, age, teaching experience, and school type contributed to the Job satisfaction and emotional intelligence interaction. The study made use of a quantitative correlational design, involving 200 physical education teachers from various districts, which were segmented by the stratified random sampling method as a way of selection the most suitable participants based on demographic characteristics. Different standardized measures such as the Schutte self-report emotional were applied for data collection purposes Intelligence Test/Wong & Law emotional intelligence Scale and the Minnesota Satisfaction the teacher work satisfaction scale was filled up by teachers and their reliability was confirmed with Cronbach’s alpha (> 0.70). Descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, frequency, and percentage) and inferential analyses (Pearson’s correlation, t-test) were conducted using SPSS. The results showed that Job satisfaction and emotional intelligence had a significant positive connection which suggests that the educators who are capable of handling their emotions well are more satisfied with their jobs. The male, older, and more experienced teachers were the ones who possessed an increased degree of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction than the female, younger, and less experienced ones; however, the differences due to the type of school were not significant statistically. The study suggests a necessity of emotional intelligence in the educational sector for the teachers’ well-being and performance. The establishment of emotional intelligence-oriented skill development training programs, the presence of emotional competence teaching in teacher training courses, and the periodical monitoring of job satisfaction are some of the practical branding implications intended to benefit the teaching profession and the building of effective pedagogy and accomplishment of educational goals that last.
