Abstract:This study investigates the financial status of women's football in Nepal. Through a quantitative survey of 41 female footballers (including players from National Team camp), the research examines income level, employment status, and challenges hindering professionalization in football. Findings reveal a stark paradox: while majorities are employed in football, 85.4% report their income as insufficient, compelling 70.7% to secure secondary employment. This financial status of instability directly affects career development, with 41.5% skipping training and 82.9% lacking access of essential facilities like gyms. Despite these privations, women footballers demonstrate remarkable dedication, with 90.2% planning football as long-term careers. The study concludes that Nepal’s women's football ecosystem is unsustainable, evidenced by a below average sustainability score of 3.6 out of 10. It functions as a passion subsidized by players, highlighting an urgent need for structural and financial reforms.
