Abstract:

The doctoral research paper titled "Role of Coaching and Mentorship in Personality Development through School Sports: Shaping Personality profiles of Elite Athletes" delves into the profound influence of coaching and mentorship on the personality development of elite athletes within the domain of school sports. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research comprehensively explores the intricate interplay between coaching methodologies, mentorship paradigms, and their collective impact on the multifaceted personalities of athletes emerging from school sports programs.

Qualitative data obtained through semi-structured interviews with coaches, mentors, and elite athletes illuminate the transformative role of supportive guidance in fostering resilience, leadership skills, and a growth mindset among athletes. Participants consistently emphasized the importance of personalized feedback and mentorship in nurturing individual strengths and addressing areas for improvement, underscoring the significance of mentorship in athlete development.

Quantitative analysis of survey data further corroborates these qualitative insights, revealing significant correlations between the quality of coaching and mentorship received and indicators of psychological resilience and leadership abilities among elite athletes. Statistical findings provide empirical evidence of the positive association between mentorship quality and the development of leadership skills, highlighting the pivotal role of effective mentorship in shaping the leadership potential of young athletes.

Triangulation of data from multiple sources enhances the robustness of the findings, offering a comprehensive understanding of the complex mechanisms driving personality development within the context of school sports. These insights have significant implications for athlete development programs, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing mentorship and individualized coaching to nurture both physical and psychological growth.

In conclusion, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the multifaceted dynamics of personality development in school sports, laying a solid foundation for future research and practice aimed at optimizing athlete development strategies and fostering the growth of champions both on and off the field.
