Abstract:This research explored how a psychological skills training program influences various forms of anxiety and self-confidence among judo athletes. Sixty judo players (N=60) from several colleges affiliated with the University of Delhi participated in the study. They were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (N=30), which received the psychological training, or a control group (N=30). The intervention lasted for 12 weeks, during which the experimental group underwent psychological skills training. To measure changes in anxiety and self-confidence, researchers administered the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2), a sport-specific tool designed to assess these psychological factors, both before and after the training period. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. The results indicated that the psychological skills training significantly improved cognitive and somatic state anxiety, as well as self-confidence, among the judo athletes.
