Author(s): Maricar C Tegero
Abstract:The emergence of the "new normal" in education, characterized by blended learning and the integration of digital tools, has introduced several challenges for female Mobile Legends gamers. This phenomenological study aimed to explore the experiences of female who are avid Mobile Legends players, focusing on their ability to complete academic requirements successfully within this transformed educational landscape. Through in-depth interviews and detailed analysis, the study examined how their engagement with Mobile Legends intersects with their academic pursuits. The primary method of data collection involved a phenomenological approach using semi-structured, one-on-one, in-person interviews. The findings of the study showed that women Mobile Legends gamers often play the game as a way to manage stress while working on their academic requirements. Mobile Legends offers benefits, including fostering teamwork, enhancing patience, and improving multitasking abilities. However, it also has drawbacks, such as encouraging procrastination and diminishing productivity. Many players engage in the game during their free time, sometimes resulting in forgotten or delayed completion and submission of their academic requirements. Although the game provides certain benefits, its negative effects are more commonly observed. This study is significant for women who play Mobile Legends while completing their academic tasks in the new normal educational environment. It highlights the importance of setting limits on gaming activities to avoid addiction and emphasizes the role of educators in guiding students about the risks of excessive gaming.
