The objective of this study was ascertain the effect of pranayama and cardio exercises on the lung capacity in a healthy individual. The study aims to find the correlation between the effect of pranayama and the effect of cardio exercises.
Participants: Total data was obtained from 20 females which are healthy individual participants with no prior chronic disease and are between the age group of 18 - 25 years.
Methods: This research included two groups of 10female individuals, in each experimental group. Group A performed pranayama and Group B performed cardio exercises. Pranayama and Cardio exercises will be performed for 30 minutes each. This training protocol was undergoing for4weeks constituting the collection of data using spirometer two times pre and post4-weekspan, all the individuals involved in the study were carefully monitored.
Results: That the effect of pranayama and cardiac exercises respectively is significant on lung capacity, but cardiac exercises have shown better results.
Conclusion: The results suggest that the cardiac exercise has more effect on the lung capacity than the pranayama in the time span of four weeks but the results can be different if the time period of the project has increased.
