Systematic review on emotional intelligence and coping strategies in athletes

Author(s): Kaaviyadharshana SS and Laxmi Mishra

Abstract:

Emotional intelligence and coping strategies play a vital role in an athlete's overall performance and well-being. Effective emotion management is essential for athletes to retain focus and composure in high-pressure situations. Coping mechanisms enable people to manage stress, anxiety associated to competition, and setbacks in a healthy way. Together, these skills enhance decision-making, motivation, and resilience. Ultimately, they contribute to consistent performance and long-term success in sports. For this research 5 papers were selected using the key words emotional intelligence, coping strategies, and athletes and were reviewed systematically.

Conclusion: Emotional intelligence positively influences coping strategies especially during matches and stressful situations.
