Abstract:This research assesses the FitDome mobile app as a technology intervention for Physical Education (PE) fitness testing. Mixed Method Research Design was used, gathering data from 121 Grade 9 students in order to evaluate the FitDome as an instrument for guiding students in performing health-related and skill-related fitness.
A Simple Random Sampling Technique, which is fishbowl sampling, was adopted in order to draw a random sample of participants unbiased. For the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), the research utilized a Convenience Sampling Method. The FGD consisted of 12 participants, a subset of the 121 students who were surveyed, divided into two groups of six individuals each. The LRMDS Technical Evaluation Guidelines and Checklist of the Department of Education was used to evaluate the mobile usability of FitDome.
Results show that FitDome was very satisfactory in Multimedia Design, Overall Interface, Customizability, Behavior Controls, and Data Entry, thus a "Very Satisfactory" rating. Results also show that there is a significant difference in the evaluation based on sex on Multimedia Design, Overall Interface, Customizability/Support for User Preferences, Data Entry by User and none in Behavior of Controls & System Information. While in terms of Age, there is a significant difference in Overall Interface, and Customizability/Support for User Preferences, while none on Multimedia Design, Behavior of Controls & System Information, and Data Entry by User. For the Advantages, participants highlighted the Paperless and Eco-Friendly, Ease of Use and Accessibility, Instructional Support, Exercise Variety, Health Monitoring and Tracking. And for Disadvantages participants highlighted Internet Dependency, Limited Access due to Lack of Device, and Challenges with Installation and Log In. Participants also suggested Offline Functionality, Customization/ Personalization, and Additional Health Features. The present study confirms that FitDome can revolutionize PE testing without losing students' enthusiasm.
