Effect of circuit training on hematological, physiological, and physical fitness variables in college students: A pre- and post-test analysis

Author(s): Shabir Ahmad Malik and Surjeet Singh

Abstract:
This study examined the effects of a 12-week circuit training program on hematological, physiological, and physical fitness markers among college students using a pre- and post-test design. Twenty healthy students aged 18-22 participated. Key variables assessed included hemoglobin, RBC and WBC counts, resting pulse rate, VO₂ max, anaerobic power, sprint speed, core strength, and endurance. Statistically significant improvements were observed across all parameters. The most pronounced changes were seen in hemoglobin levels, VO₂ max, and 12-minute run/walk distance, highlighting circuit training's efficacy in improving oxygen transport, aerobic capacity, and overall fitness. These results support incorporating circuit training into college fitness programs as a practical and holistic intervention for promoting health.
