Abstract:The evolution of women’s sports has been a transformative journey characterized by increased participation, advocacy for gender equality, and global recognition. Initially constrained by societal norms, women began making strides in sports during the 19th century, culminating in milestones such as the inclusion of women’s events in the Olympics in 1900. Despite these achievements, disparities in pay, sponsorships, and representation persist. This review paper examines the historical progression, challenges, and societal impacts of women’s sports while highlighting future directions for achieving equity.
