Co-relation between physical fitness level and academic performance in adolescent students of Belagavi city

Abstract:
Background: Physical fitness is essential for well-being, with increasing sedentary lifestyles, it is critical to understand whether physical fitness can impact academic success.
Aim: To establish the co-relation between the physical fitness and academic performance of adolescent students of Belagavi City.
Materials: A co-relational, observational study was conducted involving 267 students aged 12-17 years. The participants were selected, and data collection included the Presidential Physical Fitness Test and recent GPA.
Results: The results showed that there was a weak correlation between physical fitness and academic performance while for sit and reach and shuttle run test there was a negative co-relation, while for 1 minute curl up, 1 min push up and 1 min walk/run test, there are positive co-relation towards the academic achievement.
Conclusion: The study suggests that while physical fitness is crucial for health, its direct effect on academic performance is minimal.
