Impacts of circuit training on particular physical fitness variables of college handball players

Author(s): Amrot Gizaw and A Pallavi

Abstract:
The study sought to examine the impact of circuit training on selected physical fitness components of college male handball players. A quasi-experimental design was employed; 20 handball players were included in experimental groups (EG) and underwent circuit and regular handball training. The selected physical fitness variables were assessed by vertical jump height, 1-minute push-ups, and 1-repetition maximum (1 RM). Data was analyzed by paired sample t-test using SPSS version 20, with statistical significance set at p<0.05. Results showed significant improvements in all measured variables for EG. The study concluded that an 8-week circuit training program significantly enhanced the physical fitness of college handball players. Coaches should incorporate these training methods to enhance players' performance.
