The impact of local government sports policies in the special region of yogyakarta (DIY) in 2017-2018

Abstract:Efforts to improve the sports achievement can be done through improving the quality of the training process and the human resources that are involved. In addition, sports achievement is determined and needs to be supported by sports policies that take side on the improvement of sports achievement. The objectives of this study are to find out and describe the impact of the sports policies set by the DIY Government towards the conditions of sports in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study is a descriptive qualitative research through a survey method. The data sources of this study are taken from the head of DIY BAPPEDA, head of the DIY Disdikpora BPO and the head of DIY KONI. The data were collected through interviews and document studies towards the data sources. Meanwhile, data analysis is divided into 3 sequences that occur at the same time, namely: data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. Based on the result of the study, The researcher concluded that the sports policy implemented in the Special Region of Yogyakarta was in accordance with the principles of public policy and regularly evaluated. Although not a priority in regional development, sports in the Special Region of Yogyakarta are going well, this is evidenced by the implementation, coaching and development of well-structured sports and adequate facilities and infrastructure.
