Effect of sports participation on eating disorder among female students of diet Jorhat

Abstract:The present study was conducted to find out the effect of sports participation on Eating Disorders among the female students of DIET-Jorhat. For the purpose of present study researcher selected thirty (30) subjects, 15 from Sports participants, those who regularly participated in games and sports and 15 from Non-Sports participants those who didn’t participate regularly in games and sports from DIET, Jorhat Titabar, Assam. Age of the subjects were ranged between 20-24 years, study was further delimited to assessment of eating disorders for which questionnaire developed by Garner
et al. 1982 was used. The Independent t-test was applied to assess the impact of sports participation on eating disorder between two groups. The level of significance was set at 0.05. Results of the study revealed that there is significant effect of sports participation on eating disorder of students, result revealed differences between the two groups in relation to eating disorders (t 0.05 = 1.701 > 0.93) and also significant difference was found sub-variable i.e. dieting (5.90>1.701), Bulimia and food preoccupation (3.20<1.701), and oral control (4.12>1.701).
