Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in Indian jockeys: An observational study

Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in Indian jockeys using the Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire and to analyze which joint(s) is/are affected the most. Methods: Subjects were chosen as per the convenience sampling method, who were licensed by RWITC. Ltd. Pune. The Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire was explained and data was collected and analysed further. Results and Conclusions:Our data suggests that there is prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in Indian jockeys involving the low back, upper back, ankle/feet, shoulder, hips/thighs, knees, neck, elbow, and wrist/hand. Efforts are required to reduce this prevalence and prevent the jockeys from musculoskeletal disorders.
