Abstract:Sports and injuries go hand in hand. Whether it is for recreation or any sort of competition. In the recent years Sports participation has not only increased in recreational sports but also in competitive sports. Every sport has a risk factor of injury of its own due to the nature of games and activities of the athlete. Sports injuries happen more in competitive sports than recreational sports. Sports injuries not only interfere with the training programme but also they compromise entire careers of the athlete. And a better understanding about these aspects at local level definitely helps in improving the overall performance. For the purpose of the study, 32 college-level male football players were selected, which included both mid-fielders and defenders. All these players selected were having some sort of injuries. The main objective of this study was to understand and create awareness among Kerala footballers about the common injuries associated with players in specific position. The study showed that the players in both these positions were more prone to injuries of the lower extremities than any other injury.
