Abstract:The present study examined the relationship between emotional intelligence and competition anxiety among archery players of Arunachal Pradesh. A total of 31 players who had participated at national and state competitive levels were selected through purposive sampling. Emotional intelligence was assessed using the LAL-I Inventory, while the Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT-I) was administered to measure anxiety level. The descriptive results revealed that more than half of the athletes demonstrated strong self-awareness, motivation, and empathy, whereas the majority required improvement in emotional management. Most players exhibited average anxiety levels, followed by a smaller proportion with high anxiety. Correlation analysis indicated that emotional management showed the strongest association with competitive anxiety, while other dimensions such as motivation, empathy, self-awareness, and social skills showed weaker correlations. These findings suggest that although emotional intelligence relates to anxiety, only specific components particularly emotional regulation contribute meaningfully to performance-related anxiety among archers.
