The purpose of the study was to ascertain the achievements and awards of Arjuna awardee Manpreet Singh and his contribution towards the promotion of hockey as a player and captain. Which would be a great source of inspiration to the present and future of sports generation related with hockey. Data or information for this investigation was derived from the primary sources i.e., personal records, pictorial records, published material, interview, official records and secondary sources. To have insight on various aspects of personality of Manpreet Singh a self-designed questionnaire was prepared. After collection of data about his awards and achievements it is concluded that as a sportsperson, Manpreet Singh brought honours for his higher achievements in various national and international tournaments. He became captain of Indian junior men’s hockey team in 2013 Hockey Junior world cup. He has been the member of Asian champions Trophy 2011 Gold medal at China and 2012 Silver medal at Doha. Asia Cup 2013 Silver Medal at Malaysia. In addition he received Sport Men of the Year 2019 by Sport Star Ace Maharaja Ranjit State Award 2019 and 17th Asian Games Gold Medal at Incheon, Korea in 2014. Member of Indian hockey team in Rio Olympics 2016. India team also won the final gold medal under Manpreet’s captainship in the 2013 Sultan of Johor. In Tokyo 2020 Olympics he captained the Indian national men’s hockey team and India won a Bronze Medal. India team also won the final gold medal under Manpreet’s captainship in the 2013 Sultan of Johar cup. Manpreet Singh was the recipient of Arjuna Award in 2018 and has been honoured with Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratan Award in 2021.
