Contribution of Arjuna awardee Jaipal Singh as a coach in Punjab police and Indian boxing

Abstract:
“Coaching is one of the most effective leadership styles that can transform, empower and unlock people’s potential” (Farshad Asl).The earliest pictures of boxing came from a Sumerian relief site in Iraq 3rd millennium BC years ago. A sculpture made by Egyptian Thebes in (1350 BC) depicts boxers and spectators. In these early images, fighters were shown fighting with bare fists, bandages on the wrists. The earliest evidence of gloves was found in Minoan Crete (1500-1400 BC).The earliest evidence of boxing in ancient India is found in the classical Vedic epics Rigveda and Ramayana. The Vedic epic of India depicts various types of boxing. India’s oldest battle, the Mahabharata depicts two warriors attacking each other with fists, legs finger and knees. Rudradaman the ruler of India was known for his “great science” as well as being a great boxer, swordsman, good horseperson, chariot man and great elephant rider. Another name for boxing in ancient Greece was pygmachia. The game was passed in the 23rd Olympiad in the ancient Olympics. Arjuna Awardee Jaipal Singh four year coaching carrier from 1991 to 1994 was selected for the study. Here Jaipal Singh did not coaching any ordinary players or ordinary boxing teams in boxing. This training center was established by the Punjab Police at Bahadurgarh Patiala to promote the sport of boxing among the boxers of the Punjab Police and the Punjab Police. Here, Jaipal Singh was taken in charge of this training center because Jaipal Singh was an Asia Medalist in boxing and N.I.S. diploma holder. During his four coaching carrier, Jaipal Singh has produced any talented boxing players for Punjab boxing and Punjab police. By the way, Jaipal Singh trained many boxing players of Punjab police in this traning center who won many medals for Punjab police and Punjab. The seven most talented boxers of Jaipal Singh and their achievements were selected for this study. The main objective of the research is to give a new direction to Punjab boxing and Punjab police boxing.
