Abstract:The present study aims to investigate the object control competence, specifically focusing on, dribbling ability and throwing ability of school children from rural and urban areas in the Jammu district of India. A total of 239 school children (118 from rural areas and 121 from urban areas) participated in this study. The tests conducted were the figure 8 dribbling test for dribbling ability and the seated medicine ball throw test for throwing ability. The results were analyzed using independent samples t-tests to compare the mean differences between rural and urban school children. The findings reveal a significant difference in dribbling ability between rural and urban children, with the calculated t-values being above the critical values for tests and reveals that no significant difference in throwing ability between rural and urban children, with the calculated t-values being below the critical values for tests. These results suggest that the object control competence of children from rural and urban backgrounds in Jammu is relatively different. The study contributes valuable insights into the physical fitness patterns of children from different geographical areas and highlights the need for further research to explore other factors that may influence physical competence in school children.
