Transcendental meditation's impact on stress in university arts students: A 12-week study

Author(s): Amit Kumar Singh

Abstract:
This study investigated the effect of Transcendental Meditation (TM) on stress parameters in university Arts students. Sixty Arts students (aged 17-20 years) were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=30) practicing TM or a control group (n=30) with no yogic intervention. The TM training lasted twelve weeks, five days a week. Stress levels were measured using the Miller and Allen stress inventory. A t-test compared pre- and post-test means. Results revealed a significant reduction in stress for the TM experimental group compared to the control group, indicating TM's effectiveness in managing stress among Arts students.
