The Effect of an Isotonic Workout Program on Agility in Female Athletes: A Comparative Study
Author(s): Sharad Chaudhary
Abstract:This study was designed to evaluate the effect of a six-week isotonic workout program on the agility of female athletes. Twenty female athletes, aged 17 to 23, from the Meerut region were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (n=10) or a control group (n=10). Agility, the primary variable, was assessed using the 4x10 meter shuttle run test, with times recorded in seconds. The experimental group participated in a 30-35 minute isotonic workout program three times per week for six weeks, while the control group maintained their regular activities. An Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA), with pre-test scores as the covariate, was used to analyze the post-test data. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in agility for the experimental group compared to the control group (p<0.05).
