The type of passes made during the FIFA world cup 2014: A tactical perspective

Abstract:
The study was undertaken to analyze how top nations play football in FIFA world cup 2014-Brazil with different tactics in different situations. The objective of the study is to find out the type of passes made by different teams during the FIFA world cup 2014. All the matches of the 2014 FIFA world cup were analyzed on certain parameters like the types of passes i.e., which type of passes was used most? The match wise analysis of the pattern of playing and making passes of all the teams participated in FIFA world cup 2014 was observed carefully by watching videos and from the statistics available in the official website of FIFA and based on the information results of the present study are drawn by doing qualitative analysis of the available information. The variable selected for the study is the type of passes. Since the study focused on the FIFA world cup 2014 held in Brazil, the entire case was considered as the sample of the study. The data was collected by using the secondary sources of data. Some of the sources of data collection for the present study are internet, magazines, journals, newspapers and television. The data for the study was the facts and figures available in various sources. The results of some countries like Italy, Spain and Bosnia and Herzegovina were excellent whereas countries like Iran, Belgium and Costa Rica were very poor as far as Passing is concerned.
