Under-Representation of Women in Coaching in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (GCC)

Abstract:Aim: The aim of a study was to highlight the current coaching/sport infrastructures and culture issues in GGC, which neglect the position of women in coaching. rnMethod: The study has researched on women coaching, which was underpinned by three in-depth field case studies. The studies was conducted in Oman, Qatar and Bahrain. Four data gathering instruments were selected as methods of data collection: questionnaire, interview, documents analysis and research journal. rnResult: The results of the study showed that there is negative value attributed toward women coaches in GCC society. rnConclusion: Knowledge and understanding gained in these studies was used to underpin the future recommendations in order to develop the women position in coaching field in GCC.
