Author(s): S Somasundarmoorthy
Abstract:This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a combined approach involving specific skill training and Suryanamaskar practice on the skill performance of college-level basketball players. Thirty male players aged 18 to 21 were selected from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, and randomly assigned to two groups: an experimental group (n=15) and a control group (n=15). The experimental group engaged in an eight-week training program integrating basketball-specific skills with Suryanamaskar, while the control group followed only their routine physical activities. The key performance variables examined were passing and shooting abilities. Pre- and post-test data were analyzed using the paired 't' test. Results revealed significant improvements in both skill areas within the experimental group, highlighting the benefits of integrating yoga-based practices with sport-specific training.
